Description
The Society of the Sons of Saint George was organized in Philadelphia in 1772 for the purpose of "giving advice and assistance" to Englishmen in distress. Included here are: minute books, 1772-1949; stewards' records, 1861-1938; treasurers' account book, 1875-1923; members dues book, 1897-1909; Saint George's Hall Association (stockholders in the Society's building at 13th and Arch streets) minute books, 1875-1898; some miscellaneous loose records, among which is the original charter.
